The user who is going to install the package must have System Administrator rights in Salesforce. The account must be a 'Developer Enterprise edition' account.
Once you’ve clicked on the correct link above, you should be directed to the page below:
1. Tick the box next to 'I acknowledge that I’m installing a Non-Salesforce Application that is not authorized for distribution as part of Salesforce’s AppExchange Partner Program’. This will enable you to then click on the 'Install' button.
2. Once you’ve clicked on 'Install', the below dialog box will appear:
3. Once the installation is completed, you’ll be automatically directed to the ‘Installed Packages’ page:
a. Here, you need to enter your credentials for the Preqin API:
b. Click on ‘Edit’ next to the ‘Preqin API’ label to set up the authentication:
c. In the ‘Authentication’ section, populate the ‘Username’ and ‘Password’ fields using the
credentials you received after activating your access to Preqin for Salesforce and click ‘Save’:
Now you’ve successfully installed the Preqin for Salesforce package.
If you are subscribed to all six asset classes (PE, VC, PD, RE, NR, and HF), you can skip this step.
However, if you are subscribed to five or less asset classes, please follow the remaining steps.
1. Click on the gear in top right corner and click on ‘Setup’
2. Type packages in the filter search box and click ‘installed packages’. After this click on 'Preqin Connector MVP1' in the packages table to the right.
3. Click ‘View Components’
4. Click on 'Preqin Connector Settings' in the table
5. Click on ‘Manage’
6. Click ‘Edit’
7. Untick any asset classes or firm types you are not subscribed to and then click save. Note: All items are selected by default. If asset classes or firm types that are not included in your subscription remain selected, the data will fail to load correctly. In this example, the client is only subscribed to HF and RE, so they will untick the four other asset classes.
8. Configure the connector based on which datasets you are subscribed to. Select Investor Subscription or Fund Manager Subscription; if you are subscribed to both select both boxes and then click save.
1. Navigate to the ‘Accounts’ page via the top navigation menu and open an account:
2. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and select ‘Edit Page’:
3. This will open the ‘Components’ tab on the left-hand side.
4. Select the ‘Preqin Connector’ component located under the ‘Custom – Managed’
section and drag it over to the ‘Activity/Chatter’ section of the account:
5. Once the component is added, click ‘Save’:
When you return to the ‘Accounts’ page, the ‘Preqin Connector’ component will now be available on any account page.
Note: the above covers how to add Preqin for Salesforce on the ‘Accounts’ page. To add it to the ‘Opportunities’ page, simply follow the same steps in that section.
When you create a firm or contact through the Preqin for Salesforce plugin, this will only populate your new firm or contact with standard Salesforce fields. You can view a list of such fields below:
If you want to add any additional information to your new contact or firm, not included within the standard Salesforce fields, you can do so by following the instructions below:
1. Navigate to the page (account or contact) that you would like to add additional information to. In this example, we will be using a firm. Click the gear icon and select ‘Edit Page’.
2. Search for related lists in the top-left search, click on ‘Related Lists’, and then drag it to where you would like it to appear on the page.
3. Update related lists in second drop-down to Preqin data and click ‘Save’.
4. If you wish to choose different fields to show in this list, click the gear icon in the top-right corner and click ‘Edit Object’.
5. Click ‘Page Layouts’ and choose 'Account Layout (firm)'.
6. Scroll down in the page until you see ‘Preqin Data’ and click on the wrench icon.
7. Use the add and remove arrows to add or remove data. Click ‘Ok’ once you’ve finished.
8. Lastly, click ‘Save’ to update all the changes you made to be reflected into your instance.
Set up conditional visibility so only users with Preqin for Salesforce access can see the Preqin section on the Accounts or Opportunities pages. Navigate to any firm’s account page to begin the setup.
1. From the account page, click on the gear icon in the top-right corner and select ‘Edit Page’:
2. Click on the Preqin box, which will bring up a panel on the right to set ‘Conditional visibility’:
3. From there, follow the below steps:
Once you’ve completed all the above steps, click ‘Save’ to complete the setup of your conditional visibility for the Preqin component on account pages.
The same steps can be followed to apply the visibility to opportunity pages as well.
